ParksWatch was presented to the Venezuelan scientific community at the 4th Venezuelan Congress of Ecology (CVE), held in the city of Mérida from October 30th to November 2nd. The CVE gathers every two years to discuss progress in the field of ecology research.
ParksWatch displayed a poster titled \”MONITORING NATIONAL PARKS: AN ALTERNATIVE AGAINST PAPER PARKS,\” to describe how we work to protect biodiversity within Venezuela\’s national parks. Our methods for park evaluations and some of our more notable achievements were presented and discussed with attendees.

The poster remained on display for two days. Participation in the Congress was high and we received many constructive comments. Many of the participants at the CVE were researchers who work at several of Venezuela\’s 43 national parks and we were able to make useful contacts for our park-monitoring network. ParksWatch became active in Venezuela in May 1999.
