ParksWatch partner is Fundação
O Boticário de Proteção a Natureza (FBPN) of Curitiba,
Brazil. FBPN is a non-profit institution which develops and provides support
for nature conservation projects throughout Brazil. FBPN works with partner
organizations and researchers to preserve natural areas, to save endangered
species of plants and animals, and to raise environmental awareness among the
Brazilian society.
The ParksWatch-Brazil partnership strives
to strengthen the ability of Brazil’s protected area system to preserve
the biodiversity and processes of natural areas. By monitoring the effectiveness
of this system, PW can determine the degree to which Brazil’s protected
areas are effective in protecting biodiversity and influence the decisions and
actions of protected area managers, government officials, and the general public.
At present, ParksWatch-Brazil is concentrating on the protected areas located
within the Atlantic Forest Biome.
ParksWatch-Brazil is directed by Antonio Cristiano Vieira Cegana.
